FediDev KR

A community of fediverse developers living in Korea or using the Korean language.

What is the fediverse?

The fediverse (short for “federated universe”) is a network of interoperable social media services. These services run on different servers and software, but users can communicate with each other without needing to sign up for each other's services. Technically, it uses W3C standards such as ActivityPub along with protocols like WebFinger. Major implementations include Meta's Threads and open source projects such as Mastodon, Misskey, and Pixelfed. Software like WordPress and Discourse can also participate in the fediverse through plugins or extensions.

What is ActivityPub?

ActivityPub is a protocol standard established by the W3C that enables social media services to communicate with each other. It defines features such as following users, exchanging messages, sharing posts, and leaving comments. The standard is available in the W3C official documentation.

Who are fediverse developers?

In this community, fediverse developers refers not only to developers who build or operate social media services participating in the fediverse, but also to people engaged in technical research or activities related to the fediverse, as well as those who write about or translate fediverse-related content. This community aims to provide a space where such people can communicate and share information with one another.
